Tour Itinerary & Experience Breakdown

The Lamu Cultural Tour is a guided walking experience through Lamu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited Swahili settlements in East Africa.

Guests meet their local cultural guide at a central location in Lamu Town (hotel pick-up within town available).

Guests begin the journey with a guided visit to Lamu Museum, where they explore:

A highlight of the tour is a guided visit into a traditional Swahili home, offering a rare glimpse into authentic Lamu living.

Next, guests visit Lamu Fort, one of the most significant historical structures in the town.

The tour continues through Lamu’s narrow alleyways to visit and view some of the oldest mosques in East Africa (external viewing and explanation, with respectful guidance).

As guests walk deeper into Old Town, they experience narrow stone alleyways and coral-stone buildings.

The lunch takes place at a locally owned Swahili restaurant located within Lamu Old Town or Shela Village, carefully selected for its authenticity, hygiene standards, and traditional atmosphere.
